"Reinventing Project-Based Learning" Just Published

posted Sunday, 4 November 2007

Reinventing Project-Based Learning: Your Field Guide to Real-World Projects in the Digital Age (Paperback) by Suzie Boss; Jane Krauss (Author)

I heartily recommend this newly published book to any and all educational technology practitioners. Not only do these authors breathe new life into project-based learning, they also bring examples from classrooms around the world. Authors Suzie Boss and Jane Krauss know PBL, how kids learn, and how to create meaningful learning environments for students. Published by ISTE, this book is available through the ISTE bookstore and Amazon.com .

To interact directly with Suzie Boss and Jane Krauss, consider participating in the "Web 2.0 Tools For Schools" professional development special interest group in Tapped In, and facilitated by this blog's owner, Prof. Lynne Wolters. Suzie and Jane will be guiding teachers through Part 3 of 3 sessions. You will be able to access their wiki, ask questions, and learn from them in a text based environment. The next session is November 15th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM PST.

SESSION DESCRIPTION: In this Tapped In session Jane and Suzie will discuss their book, then dig into "virtual desktops" the emerging Web 2.0 tools that gives teachers and learners capabilities particularly suited to project-based learning. Protopages, iGoogle, Netvibes and My Yahoo are a few of the virtual desktops or personalized homepages that teachers and students are using to organize, connect, share, synthesize and generally make the most of project learning. Learn how personalizing the Web can work for you, and see how classrooms from Georgia to Bangladesh are capitalizing on these new tools.

For those new to Tapped In http://tappedin.org feel confident in becoming a member. There are no fees, amazing opportunities to both provide and partake in professional development with a large, friendly, and knowledgeable community of educators. This is a spam free zone; professional development sessions (60 minutes) are available nearly every day/evening of the week. Check out the TI professional development calendar.

I am unsure where to put this but, Hello there, I have come across a link that I believe will be great for your website, My child uses the site and I think it is great, so I am trying to spread the word.

The site is aimed mainly at children and they can upload their stories, poems and artwork. They have the chance to win competitions too. Adult can join also, and both of them can rate and comment other peoples work.

Adults and teacher can also upload their ideas too, just as long as there aimed at children.

Pleas let me know if you decide to use the link, so I know if me spreading the word is working.

All the best, Craig
