eCove Classroom Observation Software

posted Wednesday, 11 May 2005

Electronic observation tools for the classroom [home link]

I highly recommend this innovative new classroom observation software. eCOVE removes the guess work and opinion from the classroom observation process. It captures and combines empirical data to give a far more accurate view of classroom behavior than any other software tool on the market.

Research Based
eCOVE’s data collection is formulated around research based indicators. The result is an informed, and accurate view of the classroom that promote conclusions based on useful data. eCOVE’s data collection tools include those most commonly used for classroom observation, and even has the unique ability to allow you to custom design your own data gathering tools.

Supports Standards
The twenty-three eCOVE tools provide data to support evaluation and decisions based on district and national standards. Multiple tools can be used with each standard to provide a factual basis for making and defending the judgments required in any standards-based system.

Collects Data and Comments
In addition to the suite of counters and timers, users can also record comments by way of an ever present comments window. Each comment is time stamped and the name of the tool currently open is automatically generated. The observer comments are saved as a separate report and allow for additional comments and suggestions.

A Powerful Tool
Both the collected data and observer comments are included in the generated reports, and will facilitate collaborative solutions for a variety of problems. It’s easy to view, save, print or email the electronic documents, providing an effective record keeping system.
